Verbatim’s agents read your reports, your spreadsheets and the tables inside your PDFs. They turn them into tables, charts and calculations that stay tied to their sources. Tables and charts tied to their sources
A spreadsheet opens as a table in the project’s Sources tab. So does a table taken from a PDF or a scanned document. The agents build tables and charts from them. Every value keeps its excerpt: the document, the page and the cell.
Every computed figure points back to its cells
Verbatim’s proprietary algorithm ties every computed figure to its cells, in the same way it ties every fact to its excerpt. When an agent computes a change, a ratio or a total, it keeps a record of the calculation. Clicking the figure opens the original cells. In the example of an investigation into a plant, the sentence “Safety spending fell by 43% between 2020 and 2023” points to cells B2 and B5 of a table drawn from the annual reports.
The Checking agent also flags figures that appear nowhere in the accounts. The four million announced at a press conference for 2023 appear in none of the annual reports.
In your house template
The result follows your house template: required sections, length, presentation rules. A credit note keeps its headings. A board presentation keeps its layout. Templates are set in Settings. A draft exports to Word or PDF with “Export”.
The Analysis project type
The Analysis project type covers credit, markets, public policy and audit. It puts tables, charts, data and house templates first. It offers four draft formats: credit note, table, chart and presentation. The actions offered on a selection deal with figures: quantify, source, compare with last year, summarise for a committee.
The other agents on an analysis project
The Reading agent reads annual reports, accounts and their appendices, page by page. The Monitoring agent follows public registers and official decisions. The Research agent searches the web and the registers. A quick question gets its answer in seconds, with the exact excerpt. Asked for the operator’s net debt in 2024, Verbatim answers in four seconds: 2.9 times EBITDA at the end of 2024, from page 88 of the 2024 annual report.
