In short
In interviews, press conferences and meetings, Verbatim transcribes every word and checks every sentence as it is spoken. It checks against your documents, your sources, the web and everything that person has said before. When an answer contradicts your documents, the proof is on your screen while they are still talking. Your next question is ready.
A false statement is often spotted when the recording is played back, after the interview has ended. By then, it is too late to follow it up. With Verbatim, the checking happens during the conversation.
Start live
The “Start live” button launches live checking from the Live page, from Home or from the prep for an interview. Live opens full screen. The screen has three areas: the transcript, the cross-checks with their proof, and the next question. On iPhone, Verbatim listens in on an interview live.
Every sentence compared with what you know
Every sentence spoken is compared with:
- your documents
- the sources in your project
- the web
- everything that person has said before
A past statement, made on the radio or in an earlier interview, appears when it contradicts what is being said. Every cross-check carries a status: Supported, Contradicted, Not found or Checking. One click opens the excerpt that serves as proof. Live runs on Verbatim’s proprietary algorithm, which ties every fact to the exact excerpt it comes from.
A contradiction, with its proof
In the example of a press conference on safety at a plant, the chief executive says: “We invested four million in safety last year.” Verbatim immediately shows the excerpt from the 2023 annual report, page 41, which gives 1.2 million. The next question is already written: “Your annual report gives 1.2 million for 2023. Where do the other 2.8 million appear?”
In interviews and meetings
Live works the same way in interviews and in meetings. In an interview, the plant’s former safety manager says: “The inspector only came once, in January.” The sentence receives the Contradicted status. The inspection report dates the visit to March. At a council meeting, a deputy mayor says the plant’s safety budget has been maintained. Verbatim shows deliberation 2026-114, which amends that budget downwards.
After the session
When it ends, the session has its own page in the project’s Sessions tab. The quotes are filed there, each with its time in the recording. The follow-ups are listed there too. The first draft opens in the Create tab, written in your style.
Questions
Does live checking work on iPhone?
Yes. On iPhone, Verbatim listens in on an interview live. The full screen, with its three areas, opens in your browser.
Can I check a recording afterwards?
Yes. An imported recording receives the same transcript and the same cross-checks. Its page joins the project’s Sessions tab.
Do I need to prepare before going live?
No. Live starts in one click. With a prep, the live screen picks up the questions already prepared.
Which languages does it work in?
Verbatim reads, transcribes and translates documents and recordings in most languages.
