In short
In Verbatim, wire story rewriting turns one or more wire stories into an article in your newsroom’s style. The Checking agent compares every claim in the first draft with the wire story and with the sources in your project. Verbatim records the origin of every line: you, the AI or a source. In VerbatimOS, the article then goes through the approval queue before publication.
On a news desk, wire stories arrive at all hours, and any of them can become an article of your own. Verbatim writes the first draft in your style, with the proof for every fact.
One wire story or several
You paste a wire story into the agents panel, or drop its file onto any screen. Verbatim can write a single article from several wire stories on the same subject. In VerbatimOS, you can also rewrite 50 wire stories at once. A wire story in another language is translated into the language of your newsroom.
Your style, learned from your work
Verbatim’s style engine was developed with linguists. It measures dozens of features in your published articles: sentence and paragraph length, punctuation, vocabulary, attribution verbs, register and use of the passive voice. In VerbatimOS, we calibrate the house style on your newsroom’s archives. Every correction you make refines your style profile.
Six formats, and your templates
Six formats are ready, each with a default length:
- news brief: 240 words;
- article: 1,050 words;
- round-up: 1,500 words;
- timeline: 1,000 words;
- explainer: 1,850 words;
- profile: 1,300 words.
Verbatim also applies your house templates: headline, standfirst, subheadings, length and rules.
Every fact tied to its source
The Checking agent compares every claim with the wire story and with the sources in your project. Each claim gets a status: “Supported”, “Contradicted”, “Not found” or “Checking”. A click on a sentence opens the excerpt that proves it. Say a wire story reports four million invested in safety at a plant. The annual report in your project gives 1.2 million. Verbatim marks the claim as “Contradicted” and opens page 41 of the report. With several wire stories, Verbatim also flags the contradictions between them and records how each one was resolved.
Review, approval and publication
The agents’ suggestions appear next to your text. You settle each one with “Accept” or “Reject”, and your text is never overwritten. An originality score measures, in real time, how close the article is to its wire stories. In VerbatimOS, the article waits in the approval queue, then goes to the built-in CMS or to your current CMS. The “Export” button saves the draft as DOCX or PDF.
Questions
Does wire story rewriting publish without review?
No. In VerbatimOS, the article waits in the approval queue. A journalist reviews it, edits it and approves it before publication.
Is Verbatim connected to our agency feed?
In VerbatimOS, we connect your agency feed during the integration, under your agency contract. You can also paste a wire story or drop its file.
Do we have to label an article rewritten with Verbatim?
The AI Act requires a disclosure when AI generates or manipulates text published to inform the public on matters of public interest (Article 50). The obligation does not apply after human review or editorial control, when a natural or legal person holds editorial responsibility. VerbatimOS produces the AI Act report for the whole team.
Is wire story rewriting available in VerbatimAgent?
Yes. You ask Verbatim to rewrite a wire story, or you choose the “Rewritten wire” format in a project’s Create tab. Verbatim then learns your style from your articles. In a project, the Writing agent also draws on the monitoring, the documents read and the interviews.
